Our competition-winning design for a unique public garden project in Dublin, Ireland to redesign and introduce a series of heritage spaces—about 1 acre--around an existing historic house given to the public by its owner. The brief also required the creation of a new food garden, a contemporary 1-acre kitchen garden and learning garden to complement the house's history and the present-day use of the estate as a horticulture education centre and city farm.
The project involved working with contractors, consultants and the client to achieve a finished garden on a tight deadline through a series of working drawings, planting plans, specification and the monitoring of works on site. The project also included working drawings for a series of paved areas, a spiral earth mound and viewing point, bespoke items including espalier post-and-wire designs and hazel-hurdle clad raised beds. Extensive planting plans for all areas were also prepared. This project was completed in July 2013 and thrives under the Airfield team.
