This garden for The Daily Telegraph newspaper was inspired by traditional Japanese gardens, where the simplicity of design, planting and materials bring a sense of peace and unity. The slate rocks rising from a reflective pool, traversed by a serpentine slate path, intertwined with a ribbon of white water lilies, creates an atmosphere of calm echoed by the informal planting around the bolder textures of the single tree, bamboo, gunnera and yew hedges. Gold medal.
